Lola Elliott-Hugh
Internship Coordinator
Lola Elliott-Hugh is the Internship Coordinator for Urban Semester Program. Lola seeks out, creates and fosters meaningful relationships between agencies/businesses/organizations, students, and the University. Lola’s history with the Urban Semester program dates back to the 1980’s and 1990’s when, as director of several non-profits within Greater Hartford, she selected and supervised Urban Semester interns. Through these experiences she learned first-hand about the positive benefit an organization can enjoy from participating with this effective immersion program. Lola also worked as Program Manager of UConn’s Urban & Community Studies Program, developing lasting relationships with her peers and her students. Urban Semester students have described Lola as “a talented and compassionate advisor, educator, coordinator, and task manager. She brings a sense of humanity, skill, humor and purpose to her work – always thinking carefully and thoughtfully about the needs of the students, the community organizations and the populations they serve.” Lola has a history of social justice work in Connecticut. Her personal commitment to social change, meaningful learning, and to lasting relationships within the community continues to be a benefit to us all.
